       About Us  
Established in 1955, Milford Camera Club is a photography club with members who live mostly throughout the State of Connecticut.  

Working in both film and digital mediums, our members represent all levels of photography expertise and are dedicated to the pursuit of the art, education and love of photography.

Milford Camera Club welcomes members of all ages.
(Vistors and members under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.)

OUR OBJECTIVES

To promote the art & science of photography in its various disciplines through the fellowship of its members for study and entertainment in photography. To conduct photographic exhibitions and competitions and to engage in activities which will promote our members' interest and improve their knowledge and practice of photography.


MEETINGS

Meeting Place: Margaret Egan Center, Room 139 (35 Matthew Street, Milford, CT)

The Milford Camera Club usually meets on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month from September through May/June and the second Wednesday of June. Some changes are made to the calendar so please inquire before coming to a meeting.

All meetings begin at 7:00 pm.

The first meeting of each month (second Wednesday) our scheduled program night with a guest speaker or a "hands-on" night.

The second meeting of the month (fourth Wednesday), is the competition night.

The scheduled programs include speaker presentations, workshop opportunities and digital image presentations.

New members and visitors of all ages are always welcome. We encourage them to bring a few of their own prints to share.

We offer a break for refreshments and socializing during the meetings.

Meeting dates are sometimes re-arranged due to holidays and other conflicts. Be sure to call or check the calendar before coming.

 

DIRECTIONS

Northbound I-95:
Take Exit 34 toward Milford. Turn right onto Bridgeport Ave/US-1. Turn Left onto Naugatuck Ave. Turn Right onto Matthew Street.


Southbound I-95:
Take Exit 33, toward US-1/CT-110. Stay straight to go onto Ferry Blvd. Continue Straight onto US-1/Washington Bridge. Turn right onto Naugatuck Ave. Turn Right onto Matthew Street.


The Margaret Egan Center is the last building on the right. There is parking on the street and in the back of the center.


COMPETITIONS

Our competitions include black-and-white prints, color prints, monthly-theme snapshots, monthly-theme digital images, general digital images and Creative/Manipulated Digital Images.

Competition images are graded with points by independent judges. In some categories, members may elect to receive comments from the judges. Ribbons are awarded for first, second and third places, with ties broken at the discretion of the judges.

Members are assigned to competition levels: 

  • B - beginning photographers and new members
  • A - advanced members
  • AA - professional or highly advanced members

 

Members compete against other members within their level.

At the last meeting of the year, winning images are judged again and awards are given for "Image of the Year" in each class and for several special club awards.


FIELD TRIPS

Milford Camera Club organizes several one-day "field trips" to interesting locations so that members can shoot together and exchange techniques. The club also participates in field trips sponsored by the Connecticut Association of Photographers (CAP) throughout the year.

AFFILIATIONS

Milford Camera Club is a member of the CT Association of Photographers (CAP), the New England Camera Club Council (NECCC), and the Photographic Society of America (PSA) making our members eligible to enter the competitions of these groups during the year.

DUES

Club dues are $25 per year. Please inquire about multiple household member, financial hardship and student discounts..
